Civil War Veteran - Enlisted on September 2, 1864, age 15, and mustered on September 13, 1864, into Company A, 18th New Hampshire Infantry (Union). Enlistment Rank: Private. 


The 18th New Hampshire Infantry was organized in Concord, New Hampshire. Six companies were recruited beginning July 19, 1864, and mustered in on September 13, 1864. The regiment was ordered to City Point, Virginia, September 1864 and attached to Benham's Engineer Brigade to December 1864. Duty in the fortifications at City Point, Virginia, until December 10, 1864. 


Battles, Skirmishes, and Engagements: Appomattox Campaign (March 28-April 9); Third Battle of Petersburg (April 2, 1865). 


The regiment moved to Washington, D.C., April 20-26, 1865. Camp at Alexandria and provost duty at Georgetown until July. Guard duty in Washington during trial of President Lincoln's assassins. 


Mustered out on June 10, 1865. 


Married Mary E. Green, on 14 Dec 1887, in Marin, California.


Widow Pension filed on August 22, 1910 (Application No. 947,813 and Certificate No. 713,884).
