Mr. Adrian Wesley Abernethy, 91, of Drexel, went to his Heavenly Home on Monday November 10, 2014 at the NC State Veterans Home in Salisbury, NC.

Mr. Abernethy was born March 17, 1923 in Burke County, the son of the late James Ivey and Mary Maggie Lee Rector Abernethy.

He retired as foreman and supervisor of the finishing dept. at Drexel Furniture Co.. He was a US Army Air Corp veteran serving in Burma and China during WW II. Mr. Abernethy was a faithful member of Drexel First Baptist Church and the National American Legion.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Berry Abernethy and a great-granddaughter, Christina Marie Brendle.

Surviving are daughter, Ava Brendle and husband Tim, and children, Brooks and Lesley Brendle, (Luson and Mark), Adria and Rex Bader (D.J., Matthew and Zackery), Telius and Fern Brendle (Renecca, Troi, and Sierra), daughter, Ann Abee and husband Lynn, and children, Steven and Julie Abee (Isaiah), Ryan and Emily Abee (Ema, Maddie and Ryland), daughter, Judy Bolick)and husband Daniel, children, Nathan and Tate Bolick, and sister Betty Jean Tuck and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Adrian Wesley Abernethy will be held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday November 13, 2014 in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service. Interment will follow in the Burke Memorial Park.
