He was the son of Dewitt Jacob and Hazel Euceba Jones Adair. D.J. is survived by: his wife of 60 years, Lou; son, Sid and Cathie Adair; daughters, Jayne and Bill DeGeer, Linda and Tom Emmert and Judy Adair. Other survivors include his grandchildren, Brett and Mary Freeman, Marc Adair, David Adair, Jason Emmert, Becky Adair, Stacy and Mike Clipp and Tim DeGeer; and 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Birkenhead of Hawaii. D.J. was descended from a distinguished Cherokee Indian family for whom Adair County and the town of Adair were named. He was owner of Adair Typewriter Co. which was founded in 1929, and had received numerous Regional IBM dealer awards, as well as, Smith Corona awards. For many years he was an active member of Will Rogers Methodist Church. D.J. touched the hearts of many with his quick wit, humor and joy of living. He will be missed by his family and many friends, all whom he loved dearly. Service will be at Will Rogers Methodist Church, Friday, September 17, 1999 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Doug Burr officiating. Interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
