Mrs. Amanda E. Adair, 96, of North Adams Home, formerly of Lima, died at 5:03 a.m. Tuesday (Dec. 29, 1987) in the home.

Mrs. Adair was born June 14, 1891, in Mendon Township, a daughter of Jessie and Sophia Thurnhoffer McNay. She married Lewis Anderson Adair Oct. 1, 1911, in St. Edward Catholic Church in Mendon. He died Jan. 31, 1958.

Mrs. Adair attended Washington School in Loraine and Loraine High School. She was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and a charter member and first president of the church's altar society. She was also a member of the Lima PTA.

Survivors include two sons, Jessie Adair of Ursa and Carl Adair of Lima; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Reiter of Warsaw, Mrs. Elva (Ruth) Andrew of Ursa and Mrs. Richard (Doris) Cornwell of Quincy; one sister, Mrs. Anna Seals of Victoria, Texas; 27 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were a son, Leo Adair; a daughter, Marjorie Huley; and a sister, Goldie Seals.

Services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Curry Funeral Home in Mendon and at 10 a.m. in St. Edward Church by the Rev. Louis Devino, Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home with wake service at 7 p.m. conducted by the Rev. Donald Werr.

Memorials may be made to St. Edward Catholic Church or to the donor's choice.
