Mrs. Dorothy Ann Adair passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014, in Nacogdoches, Texas, at the age of 84 years, 2 months, and 7 days.
Ann was born March 6, 1930, in Louisville, Kentucky. She was a longtime resident of Houston, Texas, before moving to Nacogdoches County.
She loved outdoors, especially birds, flowers, and plants. Ann was devoted to the Church as well as her family. A favorite activity for her was serving family dinners after church, usually consisting of roast beef and potatoes (cut in half).
She and her husband, Donald Murle Adair, would have been celebrating their wedding anniversary on June 8. They could often be seen holding hands throughout the years.
Ann could always see the good in everything and everyone. Her outlook perpetually showed how to "make lemonade out of lemons." Always serving others, Ann would wear herself out taking care of others with coffee in porcelain cups.
Her survivors include her husband of 63, years, Donald Murle Adair; children, Debbie Goodson and husband Ronald, Suzie Merrel and husband Ron, Donnie Adair, Becky Covarrubias, and Nancy Davis and husband Barton; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Harpoole and Queen B. Harpoole Wiegle; step-father, Frank Wiegle; brother, George Harpoole; and sister, Juanita West.
Services will follow at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Cason Monk-Metcalf Sunset Chapel with Rev. Joseph Dagostino III, pastor of Nacogdoches First Church of the Nazarene, officiating.
Graveside rites are set for 9:45 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at Houston National Cemetery, located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive in Houston, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Merrel, Brandon Merrel, Chris Covarrubias, Joshua Covarrubias, Zachary Adair, Mark Goodson, and Jacob Davis.
Arrangements under the direction of Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors, Nacogdoches, Texas.
