Frederick Bates 1902, aged 43
James Hodges 1908, aged 79
Alfred Augustus Pearce Adam, aged 82 (NB. burial record shows the surname of this burial as Adam).
It is believed these three are not related and the plot was never purchased. Nothing is known of the later two, and no marker for them remains.
Frederick was born to John T Bates and his wife Alice in about 1859 in Maidstone Kent.
However as a baby his family moved to London and he lived at 7 Stratford High Street. As a young man there is evidence that he spent time in both London and Kent.
Frederick married Isabell and they had five children.
By 1901 he was an electrical engineer living in 216 Gascgoine Road with his family, his brother John Henry lived on the same street with his own family.
He died in 1902.
RIP.
NB: 2 July 2009. I am at Ripple Road cemetery with Karen and find Frederick's grave plot. Alas nothing left, but under the nearest tree where there is no grave is this marker. Looks of right age, and right name and we know Frederick was married. So this is believed to be the last surviving part of his grave marker. I restored it to position.
