FROM THE CHRONICLE TELEGRAM DATED JANUARY 11, 1981:

Clara Opfer, 80, of 225 W. Main St., LaGrange, died Saturday evening in Lorain Community Hospital after a three-month illness.

Born in Wisconsin, she had lived in LaGrange for the past 50 years.

Mrs. Opfer was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin and its Altar and Rosary Society, the Penfield Birthday Club, the Catholic Daughters of St. Mary's Church of Elyria, the American Red Cross, Civic Improvement League, and the Neighborhood Club.

Surviving are her husband, Harold, to whom she had been married 50 years; a son, Glenn of LaGrange; a daughter, Janet of Burbank, Cal.; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Hugo (Julia) Beinlich of Glencoe, Ill., and Mrs. Tom (Tressa) Felvey of St. Paul, Minn. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Blackburn-Fulton Funeral Home, Grafton, where prayer services are schedulated for 7 p.m. Monday.

A funeral mass will be said Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oberlin, officiated by the pastor, Rev. Robert A. Bonnell. Burial will be in LaGrange Cemetery.
