Alva Edison Adams was born on January 29, 1888 in Chariton, Lucas County, Iowa to Willis and Elizabeth Jane (Percy) Adams.

Alva had three siblings:
1) Capitola (Adams) Williby. Capitola married Clarence Theodore Williby and had three children: Fern, Edwin Lyle and Theodore Williby Jr.
2) Azalea (Adams) Younkin married Marcus Warland Younkin and had one daughter, Margaret.
3) Daisy Lee (Adams) Wilson Rohwer married a Mr. Wilson and had two daughters: Dorothy Wilson and Ester Wilson. She later married George Herman Rohwer Jr.

Alva Edison married Elsie Mary Plows on June 19, 1910 at the Baptist Church in Chariton, Lucas County, Iowa. They later moved to Memphis.

Alva and Elsie had one child: Ronald Adams, born May 28, 1911 in Chariton, Lucas, Iowa. He died on October 20, 1925 in Memphis, Shelby, Tennessee.

After Elsie's death, Alva suffered a mental breakdown. He travelled throughout the United States and died in Sacramento, Sacramento, California on 29 August 1955. He may have resided in Los Angeles, California; however.
