Mrs. Ada Harris Adams, age 97 of 273 Dave Adams Rd., Union, widow of David T. Adams, passed away Monday, February 29, 2016 at Heartland of Union.

Mrs. Adams was born in Union, July 21, 1918, a daughter of the late James Wallace Harris and Nannie Gault Harris. She was a graduate of Kelly Pinckney High School and retired as Cafeteria Manager for the Union Co. School District. Mrs. Adams was the oldest living member of Foster’s Chapel United Methodist Church where she previously received the “Mother of the Year” award.

Surviving are two daughters, Jean Wright and husband Brent of Union and Shirley Hooper of Simpsonville; two sons, Ted Adams and friend Debbie and Charles Adams and friend Tamison all of Union; a sister, Dorothy Morris also of Union; a special daughter-in-law, Glenda Adams of Jonesville; ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Adams was predeceased by a son, Donald Adams, five brothers, three sisters and a nephew reared in the home, Harold Gene Wix.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Foster’s Chapel United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Glenn Ribelin. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Adams’ grandsons will serve as active pallbearers.

The following are asked to serve as the honorary escort: Buddy Alman, Wayne Garner, James Harris, Randy Howell, Buddy Harris, Wallace Harris, Wayne Harris, Tony Harris, Kenneth Sanders, Tim Gregory, Mike Howell, Terry Harris, James Adams, Joyce Gault, Patricia A. Harmon, Aubrey Adams and Donald and Modena Bolton. Members of the Carlisle Hart Sunday School Class are asked to sit in a group.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff and nurses of Heartland of Union and also to Dr. David Keith for their care and concern of Mrs. Adams over the years.

Visitation will be held from Thursday from 1:30 until 3:00 PM at the church prior to the services.

The family will be at the home of her son, Charles Adams, 164 Dave Adam Rd.
