Aaron Ansel Adams, age 75, husband of Betty Jo Bickley-Adams, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. He was the son of the late Joseph Louie and Frances Smith Adams.
Born in Starr, SC on September 23, 1941, he was a graduate of Crescent High School Class of 1959 and enlisted in the United States Navy after graduation serving as a Naval Management Analyst. Ansel received a degree in Business Administration from New York State University. He retired after 20 years of service to the Navy as Senior Chief. He worked as a Site Manager under a Navy Contract in New Orleans and after returning to Iva, SC he worked as manager for A&A Portable building for several years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Iva and of the Joyful Hearts Sunday School Class.
Ansel is survived by his wife of 25 years, Betty Jo Bickley-Adams; a son, Aaron Andrew Adams, of New Orleans; a daughter, Kelley Adams Bourgeois and her husband Blaise; grandchildren, Bryce, Brenna, and Breelyn Bourgeois, all of Starr, SC; a brother, Ronald Louis Adams and his wife Ann; sisters, Wilma Gail Shaw and her husband Pete, and Sherron Metz and her husband James.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a twin brother, Arthur Allen Adams.
The Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Iva with Reverend Jerry Gray and Reverend Curtis Bundy officiating. Interment will follow at Iva City Cemetery with Military Honors.
The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at the church, prior to the service, on Sunday from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Iva Building Fund, PO Box 475, Iva, SC 29655.
