Aileen Adams, 88, died on February 10, 2010, after a ten-year-long series of complications from a staph infection.

Aileen was born July 9, 1921 in Anoka, Nebraska. She attended business school in Grand Island, Nebraska, where she married Theodore K. Dieffenderfer in 1942.

The family lived in Nebraska and then Boulder, Colorado, where Aileen worked at Neodata and Cottrell's Clothing Store. Her husband, Ted, was the former Director of Public Works for the City of Boulder.

She divorced in 1974, and legally resumed her maiden name. She lived in Torrington, Wyoming for 24 years where she worked for the Kelley Bean Company. She moved to Fort Collins in 1998 to be near her daughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, and her beloved son, David. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jacalyn and Kenneth Eis, of Fort Collins.

Special thanks go to her team of doctors who always met her many medical complications with patience and compassion: Dr. Victoria McCarthy, Dr. Roger Sobel, and Dr. Robert Peskind. The staff of Good Samaritan treated her with love and their kindnesses are innumerable.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Good Samaritan Chapel, 508 W. Trilby Rd., Fort Collins. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. on the same day at the Chapel. Burial will take place 11 a.m., February 18, 2010 at Mountain View Cemetery in Boulder.

Aileen's casket was hand-crafted at The Abbey of Saint Walburga as part of the Benedictine nuns' commitment to self-support through their own labor.

Contributions may be made to Fort Collins Good Samaritan Society or to the Abbey of Saint Walburga at www.GoesFuneralCare.com. An extended obituary may also be viewed at that website.
