Charlene Adcock Resided in San Jose Charlene, passed away on February 15, 2010 at her daughter's home, after a long illness, surrounded by her family and her beloved cats. Charlene was born in Akron, Ohio on October 16, 1929 to Floyd Bensley and Helen Shive. She had two older sisters, Peggy and Jean. Wife of Air Force Colonel, James Adcock (deceased), Charlene was dedicated to Jim and her family. She traveled extensively with her husband. She was an inspiration to the many Air Force wives who were separated from their families. She lived in Japan and Germany, as well as Washington D.C. and various other locations, before retiring in San Jose. One of Charlene's greatest loves, was for the circus, which was inspired at a young age by her aunt, who was a trapeze artist with Ringling Brothers. Even during her illness, she traveled to see Ringling Bros. this past Sept. Nothing kept Charlene down even in her most trying times. At the age of 35 Charlene suffered her first heart attack and then a year later a massive stroke. She was unable to drive, but it never stopped her. She continued her dedication to her husband, family and friends. While traveling around the world with Jim she became a connoisseur of fine dining and her favorite past time was going out to eat. She was able to visit recently her two favorites, La Mere Michele and Original Joe's. She was a faithful follower of the Washington Redskins and Boise State. She could always tell you when they were playing and, how they did. Charlene will be buried with her husband Jim at Arlington National Cemetery. She is survived by her sons, Jim Adcock, William Adcock, and daughter, Nancy Wood, along with 6 grandchildren, A.J., Ashley, Jeff, Kristen, Rachel & Matthew; and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers and donations Charlene asks that you treat yourself to an ice cream cone in her memory.
