Educated at the Lincoln Park Academy and attended Florida Normal College. In 1049 he was inducted into the US Air Force and was a basic airman for seven years. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant in January 1956. in July 1957, he married Celestine McMIllan and they had one daughter, Wandra Rae Dionne.
He was a member of Hines Memorial C.M.E. Church where was was on the Steward Board. Then he transferred membership to Trinity C.M.E. Church in Griffin GA in 1976 and served on the Steward Board until 1981 when he transferred his membership to Butler Street C.M.E Church and served as a steward again.
He began his insurance career with the Afro-American Life Insurance company in Jacksonville FL. His first promotion was a staff manager and later District Manger. While with the Afro, he was a member and served as secretary with PANGA an Association of Negro Life Underwriters which was created in Albany in Feb 1958. In 1965 he began working with the Southeastern Automobile Association as a home office representative. He became a member of the Atlanta Life Insurance family in 1968. he worked and began his climb up through the ranks a as Agent, Staff manager, Districts manager, Area Director and Special Assistant to the Agency Director. He the Presidents Club each year as District manager. He was manager of the Year for 1977 and 1978.
On Dec 1, while he was changing a flat tire on his car he was struck by a truck and died on the the Atlanta Beltway after driving all night to get home from an assignment in Norfolk VA.He is survived by his wife, Celestine;daughter Wandra Rae;
sons Clifford Adderley and Clarence Lucas,Mother Rose Ethel Adderley, father Albert Adderley of Long Island Bahamas; two brothers- Ervin and Albert Adderley.
