Miss Sallie Cornwell His Bride at Romney Church Wedding

Romney, W.Va. Dec 1 - Miss Sallie Cornwell, daughter of ex-state senator John J. Cornwell former Democratic nominee for Governor, was married this afternoon at St. Stephen's Protestant Episcopal Church here to Eugene Ailes of Washington, secretary and treasurer of the Hampshire Southern Railroad. The Rev. George A. Gibbons officiated.

Milton E. Ailes, vice president of Riggs National Bank, Washington, brother of the bridegroom was best man and Miss Mary Browning Keller of Romney was maid of honor. The ushers were Ned Higgins of New York; Joseph Pancake and Henry Harrison Cookus of Romney, and Richard Brydon of Bloomington, Md. Mr. & Mrs. Ailes left in a private car for the west.

Mrs. Eugene E. Ailes

Romney - Mrs. Sallie Cornwell Ailes, 69, of here, daughter of the late John J. Cornwell, former governor of West Virginia, and Edna (Brady) Cornwell, died yesterday after an extended illness.

Mrs. Ailes, widow of Eugene e. Ailes, was owner of the Hampshire Review, weekly newspaper in Romney.

She is survived by three sons, Stephen Ailes, Washington, Undersecretary of the Army; and John C. Ailes and Euguene E. Ailes, both of Romney; two daughters, Mrs. Marshall Sprague, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Ira Eyler, Martinsburg, W. VA., and an aunt, Miss Susan Brady, Romney.

The body is a the Combs Funeral Home here where the family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Romney. Rev. Charles L. Taylor will officiate and interment will be in Indian Mound Cemetery.
