MADISON - Adela T. Alber, age 81, died on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2001, at her residence. She was born on March 10, 1920, in Loganville, Wis., the daughter of William and Bertha Luetkens. She married Karl O. Alber on June 28, 1947, in Loganville. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Madison and was employed for many years by J.C. Penney Co. as a sales clerk, retiring in 1983. She enjoyed gardening, especially her roses, and also berry picking. Adela also enjoyed fishing, her many friends and card playing; she also took great joy from the many trips she took with Karl to Branson, Mo., Fort Atkinson and the many musical shows at the Wisconsin Dells. Adela was an excellent cook and baker, and took her greatest enjoyment from spending time with her grandchildren from both of her families, and they will miss her dearly. Survivors include her husband, Karl of Madison; two sons; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: three brothers, Emil, William and Ewald; two sisters, Alice and Helen; and a grand-niece, Lydia Hackel. Funeral services were held on Monday, Dec, 31, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the SCHROEDER-CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3325 E. Washington Ave., Madison. The Rev. Ken Smith will officiate. Burial in Roselawn Memorial Park will be private.
