TEWKSBURY--William E. Alcott, age 82, of Tewksbury and Salisbury, formerly of Burlington, passed away February 2, 2012, after complications from a year long problem with Vascular Disease.

He was born in Boston, MA on May 4, 1929, the son of the late George Alcott and Mary Sullivan Alcott.

Bill served in the U.S. NAVY at the end of WORLD WAR II. He then attended Boston College and graduated from Suffolk University with a Bachelor and Masters Degree. His passion was Education and he began a teaching career at Billerica High School in 1960 and later became an Assistant Principal. He retired in 1993 but never forgot his students or the school.

He was a man of kindness and caring and throughout his life he volunteered in many areas. He was one of the first groups of elected Town Meeting Representatives in Burlington, served 10 years as Director of CCD grades 9-12 at St. Margarets, also was an Usher at 5:00 Sunday Mass at St. Williams in Tewksbury.

He was predeceased by brothers, George, Richard, Joseph and Jacky; sisters, Mildred Alcott, Margaret Crombie, Eleanor LoVerme and Dorothy Pyles.

He will be greatly missed by his loving family, wife June Robideau Alcott of 56 years; 3 children, William J. (Gail) Alcott of Andover and twins, Jane Alcott of Andover and John Alcott of Lowell; 3 adored grandchildren, Billy F., Jillian and Erin; 2 dear sisters, Lillian Swanson of Dorchester, Mary Ellen Buchanan of Dennisport; sister-in-law, Dorothy Alcott of Putnam, CT; and many caring nieces and nephews and friends.

Calling hours will be Monday, February 6 from 4-8:00 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury. His funeral will be held Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Williams Church, 1351 Main Street, Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Tewksbury.
