His daughter Nella Aldrich married Collins E. Stoddard. and grand children were, Wayne, Huge and Lois Stoddard.
He married Martha Jane (Harshman)
Benton established Clifton, NE. Post Office and Library. He and wife and 3 small children came to Nemaha County April 6, 1865, raised fruit and dried berries and sold them to travelers going west by the flour sack full. Also raised cattle . He and Julius Gilbert drove cattle to Chicago on foot. In 1868 he had a post office in his home till 1882 when the Railroad came through Brock, NE.
