Steven “Reb” Aldridge, age 64 of Sheffield, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017.
Visitation will be Saturday, January 14, 12:30-2p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home Tuscumbia.
His funeral service will follow in the chapel with Bro. Barrett Long officiating.
Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John L. “Buddy” and Lila Aldridge.
He is survived by his loving wife of twenty years; Jamie Lybrand Aldridge; brothers, Drew and wife LeAnn, Stuart and wife Cindy; nephews and nieces, Hunter Aldridge, Lindsey Aldridge Key (Ben), Katelyn Aldridge and Robin Aldridge.
Steve, also known as “Reb” or “Rebby” to his childhood friends, graduated from Deshler High School, Class of 1970.
He attended Ole Miss and graduated from the University of North Alabama and received his law degree from Cumberland School of Law in 1982.
Steve began his career as a reporter with the Times Daily and then moved to the Colbert County Sheriff’s Department as Investigator.
He left the Sheriff’s Department to attend Law School where he earned his Juris Doctorate.
He was the Associate Editor for the Cumberland Law Review “79-82” and was published in 1981.
He also received the Am Jur Book Award in 1981.
Upon graduation, Reb enlisted in the US Army where he served as Captain in the Judge Advocate General’s Corp (JAG Corp).
After the Army, he was hired by Bud Cramer at the Madison County District Attorney’s Office. As the Assistant District Attorney, he specialized in crimes committed against children.
He served on the Executive Committee of the National Children’s Advocacy Center which allowed him the opportunity to travel the world and train others for this worthy cause.
Reb returned to Colbert County where he went into private practice and served Colbert and surrounding counties for 16 years.
Steve was City Prosecutor and City Attorney for various cities in the Shoals Area.
Reb was an avid music lover, especially the Beatles. In his spare time, he loved playing his guitar, writing songs and reading.
Pallbearers are Drew Aldridge, Stuart Aldridge, Doug Cooner, Ben Key, Joe Lyle and Walter Smallwood. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Whiteside, Gil Thompson, and Kevin Thompson.
