She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Honorary Teachers Sorority, Sigma Chapter, for 47 years. She attended Auburn University, University of Montevallo, and graduated from Florence State Teachers College.
She retired from teaching at Highland Park Elementary School after 34 years. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed coin and stamp collecting.
