RUTH D. ALEXANDER Died June 18, 2005 in Scotts Valley, California. She was born July 27, 1917 in New York City, N.Y. In 1940 she married U.S. Navy Lt. Lyndon Holiman Alexander in Bremerton, Washington. She was preceded in death by her dear husband, and beloved daughter, Nancy Matlock. Ruth lived in Castro Valley, California for over twenty years, and resided in Aptos and Capitola for a few years before moving to New England Village Mobile Home Park in Hayward in 1978. She served as president of the Hayward Mobile Home Owners Association, receiving the Hayward Mayor's Award in 1991 and 2000 from two different mayors. In 2001 she moved to Oak Tree Villa in Scotts Valley to be near her family. Her interest in education and politics heavily influenced many in her circle of family and friends, and her skill at contract bridge earned her much respect. She is survived by her son, Lynn Alexander; grandson, Jeff Matlock and his wife, Jennifer; granddaughter Jennifer Engel and her husband, Jason; and son-in-law, Dale Matlock, as well as many loyal friends and associates. In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Alexander has requested donations be made to The Hospice Caring Project, 6851 Soquel Drive, Aptos, CA 95003. Also, at her request, there will be no funeral service.
