Mr. Alexander, age 93, of Charlotte, NC, died Tuesday December 4, 2007 at his residence. Born November 2, 1914 in Mecklenburg County, he was a son of the late Lewis Alexander and Lucy Leach Alexander Martin.
A member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, he was a member of the Joy Class, served on many committees, and was past treasurer. He was employed with Associated Transport for 46 years as a truck driver and after retirement worked at the Oakdale 'House of Knowledge' and the Charlotte Coliseum and Ovens Auditorium. He liked to garden and fish and was a member of Long Creek Masonic Lodge where he served as 'Tyler'.
Funeral services were conducted December 6 at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery. Survivors are his daughters, Gayle Robinson, Susan Orders and husband Eddie, and Kathy Alexander of Charlotte, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, sister, Aline Faulk of Waxhaw and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice Kelly Alexander, brothers, Ray Martin, Ves 'Bill' Alexander and sister, Gladys Bost.
