October 8, 2004 Pauline "Polly" Adams
Pauline "Polly" Adams, 91, Carthage, died, at 9:05 P.M. Thursday, Oct. 6, 2004, at St. Luke's Nursing Center.
She was born Oct. 27, 1912, at a farm near Bowers Mill, Mo., to J. Clay and Nina (Cofer) Alexander.
She was a hydraulic engineer technician for the U. S. Geological Survey for 18 years before retiring in May 1975. She moved to Carthage in 1977.
She was a member of the Business and Professional Women, National Association of Retired Federal Employees and a Red Cross volunteer.
She was also involved in the Jeanette Williams circle, the altar guild, Jasper County Home Extension #25 and the First United Methodist Church of Carthage.
She married Darius Adams on July 9, 1935, in Maple Grove, Mo. He died March 5, 1995.
Survivors include three sons, John Russell Adams, Deweyville, Utah, Darius "Gene" Adams, Longview, Texas, and William A. Adams, Olympia, Wash.; one daughter, Irene Mae Davis, Lyons, Kan.; one sister, Agatha Lambeth, Carthage; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Red Alexander.
Visitation will be from 3 to 4 P.M. Sunday, Oct. 10, at Ulmer Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held, at 11 A.M. Monday, Oct. 11, at Dudenville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, or the First United Methodist Church in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
