Co-founder, investor, and vice president of Packard Motor Car Co. Investor in Wright Brothers Inc. and owner of the first commercial airplane. Lumber baron and treasurer of Alger Smith and Co. (pine logging and timber). Director of many businesses, including railroad and other holdings. Built Grosse Pointe's historic "The Moorings" estate in 1910, now known as The War Memorial.
