Mrs. Annette Allen, widow of author Hervey Allen and resident of Miami for many years died in Phoenix, Arizona, where she had been living for the past several years.

Her late husband wrote the novel, "Anthony Adverse", a volume of poetry entitled "Songs for Annette" and several historical novels about the Civil War Period.

Mrs. Allen was born in Cazenovia, N.Y. She met Mr. Allen while she was a sophomore at Vassar University and he was her English instructor. She quit school, they married and moved to Miami in the early 1930's.

In 1952, Mrs. Allen went back to school and earned her bachelor's degree at the University of Miami. In 1958, she helped found and became the first vice-president of the Friends of the University of Miami Library, an organization still in operation.

Several years ago, Mrs. Allen moved to Phoenix with her daughter, but still maintained her home in South Miami.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Melvin Marcus and Mrs. Marsha Allen; a son, Richard and ten grandchildren.

Services will be in Phoenix. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery, next to her husband.
