Morton "Mort" Jay Allen, Studio City, CA Business Icon, passed away April 5, 2014, in his sleep. Mort was born February 27, 1939, in Los Angeles, CA, the son of Edward and Diana Allen. He attended North Hollywood High School and then Valley College where he earned his Associates of Arts Degree. After college Mort served his country in the United States Coast Guard. Following his service, Mort became a Real Estate Broker and opened his own real estate company, Allen Realty in 1962 with his mother Diana in the same location in Studio City on Ventura Blvd. as it stands today 52 years later. Mort continued his residential and commercial real estate practice his entire life specializing in real estate throughout Los Angeles and Palm Springs areas. Mort was an active REALTOR and member of several community and real estate associations including the Studio City Residents Association, Advisor to L.A. Mayor's Office on local communities, member of International Council of Shopping Centers and Studio City Chamber of Commerce. Devoted first and foremost to his children and the community, Mort was also an avid automobile collector with several vintage cars. Mort was a true entrepreneur and a man with a great sense of humor and personal generosity. Mort is survived by his daughter Laurie Allen, long-time companion and business associate Linda Tarlow, lifelong friends Daria and Ondar Tarlow and grandchildren Jimmy, Eliza and Bryan. He is also survived by his great-grandson Dylan and brother Barry Allen.
