William served in Company G 7th Minnesota Infantry during the Civil War

William G. Allen, whose residence was Goodhue County MN, when he was 26 years old, enlisted in the Union Army at Red Wing, Goodhue County, MN as a Corporal. On 8/14/1862 he mustered into "G" Co. MN 7th Infantry. On 5/1/1863 he was attached to the MN 3rd Light Artillery. He was Mustered Out on 7/12/1865.

He applied for a pension on 1/13/1900 from the state of MN # 1,242,343
His Widow (Frances M Allen) applied for a pension on 9/30/1901 from the state of MN
application # 749,103
After the War he lived in St Paul, Ransey County, MN
