Carolyn King Allen, 65, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014 from smoke inhalation as the result of a fire at her residence in Tupelo.

A lifelong Lee Countian, she was born in Tupelo on March 2 1949 to Herman Travis King and Dorothy Beasley Tate.

She graduated Tupelo High School in l967 and worked several years for Lumpkin, Holland, Ray and Upchurch Law Firm. Later, she was employed by the Circuit Court office. At her death, she was a Night Auditor for the Clarion Inn.

A happy, go-lucky girl with a big heart and an independent spirit, she enjoyed having fun, traveling and fellowshipping with her buddies, her dogs-- and all animals and reading. She was a Southern Baptist. Her life could easily have been captured by the Frank Sinatra song, “I Did It My Way” . She was a good ole soul.

Survivors include her brother, Jerry King and wife, Cheryl of Tupelo; her best friend, Patsy Harris of Tupelo, her Aunts, Uncles, nieces and nephews and their families and a host of friends.

A service celebrating her life will be held at 11 AM Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Mark Cayson officiating. Private burial will follow in Tupelo Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10 AM-service time on Saturday only.

Pallbearers will be her girlfriends, Patsy Harris, Sue Pounds Williamson, Nancy Aron Fulton, Dot Ledlow and Wesley Webb and Jerry King, Jr.
