Ida Allen Rites to Be Saturday

Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Home for Funerals for Mrs. Eliza Ida Allen, 99, a resident of Norfolk the past fifty years.
The Rev. B. Roy Brown, United Methodist Church pastor, will officiate, and burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Visitations will be Friday from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Allen died Tuesday at a Norfolk nursing home. Prior to going there she had resided at Boulevard Village, 1701 Riverside Blvd.
She was born June 13, 1879, to George and Sarah Vinson in a covered wagon in Lancaster County, eight miles south of Lincoln. On her recent 99th birthday, she received greetings from President Jimmy Carter, Gov. J. James Exon and U.S. Senator Carl Curtis. A recording of her experiences in the blizzard of 1888 is at Norfolk Public Library.
Preceding her in death were five brothers and nine sisters. Surviving are two step-sons, Kenneth Allen and Lloyd Allen, both of Seattle, Wash., and one granddaughter, Beverly Ann Daniels of Norfolk.
