Wife of James Allen who was born Staffordshire, England & was son of David Allen & Mary Vaughn.

Abigail Allen, widow of James Allen, died this morning at 1:45 o'clock, at the home of her son, David E. Allen, 95 Morris street, of pneumonia and a general breakdown; she had been ailing for some time, but was confined to her bed only within the past few days. She was in her 76th year. Mrs. Allen was born in Gospel Hope, Staffordshire, England, Feb. 14, 1841; her father was Thomas Westwood, and her mother's maiden name was Smith. Mrs. Allen was married in England, and came to this country for the first time in 1860, later returning to England for a period, after which she came back to America permanently. She had been a resident of Yonkers for about 36 years. She is survived by six daughters and two sons -- Mrs. John Speight of Yonkers; Mrs. Harry Dowson of Dover, N.J.; Mrs. John Oldman of Wilmington, Del; Mrs. W.H. Huime of Winchester, Ky.; Mrs. John Hamer, formerly of Yonkers, but now of New York City; Miss Lillie Allen, David E. Allen and Horace B. Allen, of Yonkers. Also by 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her husband died about 15 years ago. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon from St. Paul's Episcopal Church, this city, of which Mrs. Allen was a member. Rev. William Morris Gilbert, the rector, officiating. The interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
