Edward [or Edmond] Allen was born about 1818 in Ireland, possibly in Donaskeagh Townland, Rathlynin Parish, county Tipperary, Ireland. He came to Canada with his father Edmond Allen (c1774 - Feb 11, 1860) [a native of Galbally Parish, county Limerick, Ireland], his mother Bridget Fleming (c1787 - 1863), his maternal grandfather John Fleming (c1759 - ?), & his older siblings onboard the Resolution as a 'Peter Robinson' sponsored emigrant in 1825. The family settled in a one-story log house on 100 acres in the east half of Lot 4 Concession 7 Douro Township, Peterborough County, Ontario, Canada. But by 1871, Edward/Edmond Allen (c1818 - May 24, 1894) was married to Ellen Clancy (c1827 - Feb 17, 1911) & pioneering on Lot 15 Concession 13 Galway Township, Peterborough County, Ontario, Canada.
