James Patrick Allen, 95, died peacefully on March 17, 2011 at Cabrini Nursing Home, where he was a resident since last fall.

He was born December 30, 1915 in New York City to James and Jennie Allen. Orhaned at a young age, he was raised by Jack and Marguerite Morrison in Riverdale, NY.

He graduated from Sacred Heart High School and enlisted in the Army in 1943. He was most proud of his service years in the India-Burma Theater, where he held the rank of Captain during World War II.

Jim married Jane Croake in 1943 and they shared fifty-eight devoted years together until her passing in 2001. He is also pre deceased by a sister, Muriel and brother, Oliver.

Jim and Jane were longtime residents of Yonkers, NY, settling there in 1955 in their home with his beloved front porch. It became the nucleus of his family and family life.

He is survived by his children: James and Marigay Allen of Colorado, Peggy and Joseph Zuccarelli of Yonkers, Kathy and Richie Bennett, of Yonkers, John and Vickie Allen of NJ, Mary Beth Allen of CA, and Tom and Cathie Allen of Yonkers, NY. He was the beloved grandfather to: Brian, Kevin (fiance Brooke) and Tim Allen, Keith, Kate, and Joanna Zuccarelli, Kristina (Rick) O'Neill, Janine (Kevin) Burke and Caitlin Bennett, Christopher and Michael Allen, Sarah Jane and Joseph Allen, James, Megan, and Joey Allen. Also surviving are great-grandchildren: Liam, Keira, Landon, and Cian.

Jim held positions in Real Estate Management and Insurance firms and retired from the NYC Department of Relocation in 1980. He leaves a legacy of love and devotion to family, Catholic faith, his country, helping others, a strong work ethic, and stories galore which served us to cherish his past and love his presence.

Reposing at FLOWER FUNERAL HOME INC., 714 Yonkers Avenue, with a visitation on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist.
Interment: Gate of Heaven.
