He was born in Fond du Lac on Nov. 21, 1895, son of Frank and Alta Allen, and was married here to Miss Bess Cronk on Dec. 4, 1920.
Mr. Allen had been employed for 20 years by the board of education as bus driver and in stock room work, retiring in 1961.
He served with the Navy during World War I, and was a past commander of Cook-Fuller Post 70 of American Legion, member of Winnebago County Barracks of World War I Veterans and Last man's Club. He also had been an active Mason, being member of Centennial Lodge 205, Tyrican Chapter 15, Oshkosh Commandery, past patron of Oriental Chapter 16, OES, and member of Oshkosh Aerie 267 of Eagles.
Mr. Allen at one time had his own orchestra and played with others, including the 127th Infantry Band.
Surviving are his wife, Bess; two sons, Clair and Ralph Allen, Oshkosh; and six grandchildren. Services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at Konrard Funeral Home, with the Rev. Russell R. Morgan Jr., pastor of First Presbyterian Church, of which he was a member, officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. Thursday until the hour of services. Masonic service will be held at the funeral home Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Eagles service will be at 8 p.m.
