"Sittler Index of Surnames for which Information has been abstracted from the Lincoln, NE State Journal Newspaper, May 1873-December 1899, Vo.1 A-D by Melvin Sittler.

d (death) - Allen, Mrs. Lancy - Lincoln - January 25, 1887, Pg.4, Col.4. (Date of Newspaper Notice and not date of death.)

Quoting the Sittler Index:

"Allen, Mrs. Lancy
d. at the home of Jerome Shamp, of Lincoln, NE.
age 78 years and 7 days
was mother of Mrs. Richard Wallingford

Family Bible and records prove that Alancy Smith Allen was born on 13 Jan 1799. She died seven days after her 88th birthday. The newspaper is incorrect.

Jane Wallingford was wife to Jerome Shamp, daughter of Eliza Allen Wallingford, and therefore, granddaughter of Alancy Ellen Smith Allen.

Alancy who was born in Vermont, was married to Jonathan Allen of Vermont who was orphaned at a young age, brought to New York, and cousin to Ethan Allen. They had 11 children probably all born in Ohio:

and Polly, birth unknown.
Estimated ages taken from Ohio and Nebraska Census, family records and Bible.

More information about Alancy and her husband Jonathan Allen can be found in the "PORTRAIT AND BIOGRAPHICAL ALBUM" of Lancaster County, Nebraska, published in 1888 by the CHAPMAN BROTHERS of Chicago, Illinois, by looking under the name RICHARD WALLINGFORD, pages 700-703, which includes a sketch of Richard Wallingford.

Within Richard Wallingford's biography also find Alancy's parents are Lydia Rose (Roosa) and Elijah Smith.
