She married Army Air Corps pilot Capt. Lewis Zane Abbott on Dec. 2, 1942, in San Angelo, Texas. Helen made many moves with the service. She resided on Air Bases in Texas, New Mexico, Virginia, Georgia, Wyoming, Utah, California, Arizona, Hawaii, Florida, Germany, Illinois and finally Washington before moving to Salmon, Idaho, in 1982. Helen moved to a retirement home in Logan, Utah, in 2009.
She loved the 27 years she spent in Salmon in her home on Perreau Creek. Helen hosted many grandkids for stay over during the summers and had a positive influence on their lives. Helen enjoyed gardening, cooking and canning, traveling, camping, sewing and visiting with friends. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Helen is survived by her three sons, L. Zane of Salmon, Idaho, L. Allen of Paris Idaho, and Michael E. of Richmond, Utah. She also had 10 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; a brother and a sister; and her beloved husband, Zane, in March 1994.
Funeral services for Helen will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 East, Preston, Idaho. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday also at Webb Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Farmington, Utah, Cemetery.
