He was born Oct. 28, 1941, in Weston, W.Va., the son of the late Rex and Beatrice Goldsmith Allman. He was a graduate of Doddridge County High School with the class of 1959. He was also a 1963 graduate of Glenville State College with a bachelor of arts degree in music education. He taught music for 26 years in Wirt County and Pleasants County. While at St. Marys High School, he was choir director, attendance director and band director. He had been a member and past president of the Grant Jefferson Lions Club. He was a member of the Music Educators Association and the Musicians Protective Union Local 179. He was a former member of both the Parkersburg Choral Society and the Brass Ltd. His two favorite hobbies were cooking and flying as he held a private pilot's license.
He is survived by his wife, Marjorie M. Allman; one daughter, Susan Allman Bailey and her husband, Jeffrey, of St. Marys; one stepson, Andy Kitchens of Athens, Ohio; one granddaughter, Caroline Danielle Bailey of St. Marys; one sister, Evelyn Melton of Akron, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents and one sister, Marie Kirkpatrick preceded him in death.
