Betty Jo Allmand, 74, died Sunday, December 10, 2006, at Pearsall Nursing and Rehab in Pearsall, Texas.
The daughter of Opal Gertrude (Adams) and Luther Lee Little, she was born on January 9, 1932 in Abilene, Texas, where she was reared. She was a 1949 graduate of Abilene High School and 1953 graduate of Hardin-Simmons University. She married Vernon L. Allmand on August 16, 1953 in Abilene.
Betty Jo was secretary for seven years to Lester Berg, an attorney in Abilene, and secretary for Curry-Sanders Beechcraft Dealership in Shreveport. She was self-employed in accounting while living in Midland.
She lived in Shreveport, Louisiana nine years, Houston five years, and Midland twelve years before returning to Abilene in October 1987 at the time of her late husband's retirement. Mrs. Allmand moved to Pearsall after his death. She was a former member of Broadview Baptist Church in Abilene.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther Lee Little (d.1957) and Opal Adams Little (d.1999); her husband, Vernon L. Allmand (d. 1995); and a son, Scott Allmand (d.1988).
Survivors include her son, Tommy Allmand and wife, Cherie, of Pearsall, Texas; and three grandchildren, Katie Allmand, Justin Allmand and Luke Allmand.
The graveside service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy 277 South. The family will receive friends 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
