Al was a retired decorated Staff Sergeant after 20 years in the U.S. Army and served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam and Germany and the Embassy in France. After retirement from the Army he became a Truck Driver for the Teamsters Union and retired after 19 years. He was a resident of Browns Mills since 1976.
Al was a member of St. Ann's Church, Browns Mills, the DAV Chapter # 29, and the LAMA Motor Cycle Club in Orlando, FL.
Beloved husband of Maria Elena (Rubio) for 54 years; dear father of Alfredo Alonso & wife Tania of Hollywood, FL, Angelica Alonso-Wilson of Browns Mills, Alponso Alonso Jr & partner Charles of Edison, and the late Anna Maria Mahoney; grandfather of 8; and great grandfather of 4. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters and many special nieces & nephews.
Relatives and friends of Alfonso's family are invited to his viewing and visitation 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM Monday morning at The Lankenau Funeral Home, 370 Lakehurst Road, Browns Mills, where his funeral service will be held at 11:15 AM with Deacon Michael O'Brien officiating. Interment with U.S. Army Honors will be held 12:30 PM Monday at the BGWCD Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road, Arneytown, North Hanover.
