William Christopher Alvord, 29, founder of the AIDS Awareness Alliance, died Feb. 23 at his home in Washington. He had AIDS. After graduating from St. Albans School for Boys in 1981, Mr. Alvord completed a course at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute in Los Angeles. He was then employed by the Stephen J. Cannell production company, where he worked until entering the University of California at Los Angeles to study interior design and architecture. During the last year and half of his stay in Southern California, Mr. Alvord was accepted into a program at Cedars Sinai Hospital to work with staff specializing in the care of AIDS patients. He also wrote a book of poetry he dedicated to children with AIDS, which his family plans to contribute to the Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Alvord of Washington; a brother, Jonathan of Los Angeles; and three sisters, his twin, Carrie Thompson of Mission Viejo, Calif., Kathryn Corbett of San Clemente, Calif., and Elizabeth Fetonti of Tuckahoe, N.Y.; a stepbrother, Robert Alvord; and two stepsisters, Suzanne Alvord and Shelly Lynch. Services will be held March 11 at St. Alban's Episcopal Church....
