She was a graduate of St Johnsbury Academy* and from Smith College* at Northampton, MA class of 1891.
She with other young women carried on the Congregational Church at Waterford, ME for some years.
On various occasions Lucy and James had traveled in this country and Europe and on Mr Alvord's retirement they spent a year in Egypt, Palestine, Greece and Italy. In the latter country she sustained a fall from which she never fully recovered.
She is survived by her husband James; two brothers Prof Arthur Fairbanks of Hanover, NH; Robert N Fairbanks who resides in England; two sisters Mrs Chauncey A (Marion) Adams of Burlington, VT; Mrs John E (Dorothy) Nelson of Montpelier, VT.
