Dorothea and John got married in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church in Riverside, New Jersey in 1857. Father Robert Kleinerdan married them. This wedding was believed to be the first wedding in St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church.

Dorothea's funeral was held at her home on Cambridge Road, near Riverside, New Jersey.
