Ann J. Amarante

WALLINGFORD -- Ann J. Cadari Amarante, 87, of Pond Ridge at Ashlar Village, Wallingford, and previously of Pinellas Park, Fla., died on Nov. 2, 2001. She was the wife of the late Joseph V. Amarante; daughter of the late Felicita and Ambrose Cadari.

She was born in New Haven, Aug. 7, 1914 and then moved to the Shotzenpark section of Hamden. During World War II she served in the Women's Army Corps and was assigned to the Air Force as a control tower operator in Austin, Texas. She also worked for many years for Congressman Albert Cretella. She graduated from Southern Connecticut State University in 1967 and taught in the New Haven schools and at Margaret L. Keefe in Hamden.

She leaves two sisters and their husbands, Jean and Fred Stoehr and Celeste and John Pesenti, all of Hamden; nieces and nephews and their spouses, Janet and Ron Barbiuto, Jean and Jim Thomas, Jeff and Mary Stoehr, all of Wallingford, Fred and Eileen Stoehr of North Guilford, and John Pesenti of Lunenberg, Mass.

Funeral services will be held from the Celentano Funeral Home, 424 Elm St., (cor. Dwight) New Haven, Monday morning at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian burial in Blessed Sacrament Church, Circular Ave., Hamden at 10 a.m. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hamden.
