VERONA - Primis Ambrose died Thursday, May 8, 2008, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a long illness. He was born Jan. 29, 1938, to Larmia Ambrose Sr. and Annie Bell Finnie Ambrose. He was a lifelong member of New Prospect Baptist Church. He was an employee of MAFES for 36 years and, after retiring, continued to work part-time until his death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. Zion M.B. Church in Verona. The Rev. George Taylor will officiate. Burial will follow in New Prospect Cemetery. N.L. Jones & Son Funeral Directors of Tupelo is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Tarnell Ambrose; three children, Shirley Gilmore (Sonny) of Verona, Betty Joyce Edwards (Billy) of Nettleton and Michael Taylor of Verona; one brother, Larmia Ambrose (Inez) of Verona; three sisters, Lillie Mae Morris,Estella Edwards and Annie Mae Ambrose, all of Verona; one aunt, Bertha Finnie of Detroit, Mich.; a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Fannie White and Ollie Bell Griffin; one brother,
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
