Arland Eugene Ames, age 68, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and nephew, went to our Savior, Jesus Christ, at 7:30 A.M., December 29, 2003. Born February 27, 1935, Union, ME, he was preceded in death by his parents, Alvah and Mabel Ames and his brother, Vernon Ames. A dedicated postal serviceman for 33 years and Mission Service Corp. volunteer for five years, he let his light shine on many. He is survived by wife, Ethel; son and wife, Michael and Judy; son, Alan; daughter and husband, Carolyn and Omar Pachecano; eight grandsons, Herbert II and Christopher Engelhardt, Jeremy, Joshua, Justin, Austin and Jordan Ames, and Omar Pachecano, III; brothers, Gerald Ames, Carl McCrillis, Harry McCrillis; sister, Norma Schmelzer.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at First Baptist Church Leon Springs, 24133 Boerne Stage Road, (210) 698-2880 at 2:00 P.M. on December 31, 2003, followed by Burial at Mission Park North. Services officiated by Revs. Dave Pouchot and Loren White. Pallbearers are his grandsons. Viewing is being held at Oak Hills Mortuary, 8332 Fredericksburg Road, (210) 616-0510 at 6:00 to 9:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 30, 2003. Arrangements are entrusted to Oak Hills Mortuary.
