The following note appears on his death record:
"RPF Juan Amoros was born in the Province of Catalonia, Spain, in the Village of Porrera, Archbishopric of Tarragona. He took the habit of Our Father San Francisco in the city of Gerona on April 28, 1791, and professed on the 30th. The following year he was ordained a priest during the Christmas season. He was serving in the City of Solsona in the year 1797. On March 4, 1803, he left Catalonia for the Apostolic Colony of San Fernando de Mexico, where he arrived on July 26, 1803. The following year, being zealous to save the souls and convert the gentiles, with the blessing of his superiors he came to the missions of Alta California, where he arrived the beginning of September 1804, and was assigned to Minister at the Mission of San Carlos (Carmel), where he spent 15 years practicing the Apostolic Ministry. From there, with the permission of his Prelate, the Prefect Fr. Mariano Palleres, he came to Mission San Rafael Archangel, where he worked with constant enthusiasm until his death on the day previously mentioned, having lived at this mission 13 years. At 5:00 p.m. on the same day, July 14, we buried him in the church of this Mission in the Presbytery next to the lecturn, having sung that morning the Vigil of the Dead and the Mass of Corpure Presenti, which was said by R.P.F. Tomás Estenega, and then I did the Infrascript, the one for San Buenaventura (both sung), to whom the deceased Father was most devoted. This priest, whom I have known since 1792, I always knew to be a Saint, having lived in his company for a long time, and as to his faithfulness and devotion, I do hereby affirm it, at this same Mission San Rafael Archangel, on July 16, 1832 "
