Teresa L. Amos, 79, of Kokomo, peacefully passed away with her loving family by her side at 2:40 in the afternoon on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Wellbrooke of Kokomo. She was born on December 15, 1936 in Kokomo to the late Edgebert and Ceotice (Snyder) Bourff. Teresa married Jack Amos on May 18, 1956. She was a wonderful wife, loving mother and an extraordinary grandmother to her grandchildren, whom adoringly called her Mammy. She devoted her life to her husband, daughter and two grandchildren. Teresa was a homemaker, as well as responsible for managing the family’s rental properties and painting business alongside her husband, Jack.
Teresa graduated from Kokomo High School in 1954, where she enjoyed life-long friendships with a group of ladies who called themselves the “GIBS” – Girls Interested in Boys. Teresa enjoyed watching basketball, especially the Kokomo Wildkats. Teresa was a fifty-year member of Grace United Methodist Church, and she loved the Lord. Teresa enjoyed spending weekends at the family’s cottage on Lake Manitou, soaking up the sun and cooking bluegill caught by Jack. Teresa’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren and helping with their daily activities. Teresa was an avid mall walker, which allowed her to enjoy her favorite past time of shopping. Jack lovingly referred to Teresa as “Queenie.” The couple adored each other and is now reunited in Heaven.
Teresa is survived by her daughter, Angela (James) Stamper of Kokomo; grandchildren, Alexis and Abram Stamper, both of Kokomo; siblings, Mark (Jerri) Bourff of Russiaville, and Rose “Dolly” (Ken) Janusz of Hugo, Minnesota; sister in-law, Helen Jean Humbert of Kokomo; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Amos and siblings, Edgebert Bourff Jr., Paul Bourff, and Gert Titus.
