Martha Ellen Alsup, 74, of Scottsburg died Thursday, July 4, 2002, in Scottsburg.

She was born Oct. 9, 1927, in Lexington, the daughter of Jess and Laura Copple Amos.

She retired as a dispatcher at the Scottsburg Police Department.

She is survived by a son, Haskell Alsup of Scottsburg; two daughters, Bonnie Simms of Austin and Judy Napier of Scottsburg; three sisters, Nan Jones of Scottsburg, Joan Carson of Lexington and Maysel Benge of Brownsburg; two brothers, Fred Amos of Scottsburg and Maurice Amos of Lexington; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman Alsup; and a son.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Stewart Funeral Home in Scottsburg. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and after 10 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Fund, in care of the funeral home.
