Carl J. Anastasia

OLEAN - Carl J. Anastasia of North Clark Street passed away Sunday (April 17, 2016) at Absolut Care of Allegany.

Born on May 6, 1924 in Olean, he was a son of the late Frank and Carmella Alise Anastasia. On April 27, 1950 in Olean, he married June W. Bess who survives.

Carl attended Olean High School and served with the U.S. Army in World War II. He was employed as a machinist at Clark Bros. until his retirement.

He was a member of St. John's Church and an active member of the Christopher Columbus Lodge, where he was in charge of bocce competition for many years. He enjoyed OTB, watching football and playing cards with his friends.

In addition to his wife of 66 years, June, he is survived by a son, Terry (Jamie) Anastasia of Olean; a daughter, Sheila (Dan) Bradley of Smithfield, N.C.; three grandchildren, Mike (Richele) Anastasia, Steven (Deana) Anastasia and Lauren Bradley; three great-grandchildren, Cory, Kiley and Allison Anastasia; three brothers, Ralph (Marie) Anastasia of Olean, Dennis Anastasia of Olean and Albert (Karen) Anastasia of Cuba; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; and eight sisters and brothers, Rosie Kiesel, Yolanda Edwards, Helen Suda, Jeanette Douthit, Phyllis Scott, Anthony "T-Bone" Anastasia, Joseph "Motor" Anastasia and Frank Anastasia Jr.
