Funeral services were held on Monday April 7th at 2 p.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at Askov for Albert Andersen, age 87, of Askov. Rev. Harold Petersen officiated with Mrs. Paul Jensen as soloist and Mrs. Harold Petersen as organist. Casket bearers were: Duane Dixon, David Andersen, Verne Jensen, William Andersen, James Olesen, all grandsons of the deceased and Richard Bresin. Burial was made in the Askov Cemetery.
Mr. Andersen passed away at the Pine County Memorial Hospital at Sandstone on April 3rd, Thursday afternoon, after a long illness. He had been a resident of the Pine County Nursing Home since last July.
He was born in Denmark on Sept. 25, 1881, the son of Jorgen and Ulrikke Andersen. He came to the United States and settled permanently in 1912 at Laurel, Nebraska. He was married to Mathilde Dooleweerdt on November 267, 1912 in Nebraska. The couple moved to the Askov community in 1928. He farmed for some years and also was employed at the Ferndale Nursery for several years. He retired and moved into Askov village some years ago. The couple celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 19672. Mr. Andersen loved music and he entertained on many an occasion with accordion.
He is survived by his wife, Mathilre, and three daughters, Mrs. Scott (Selma) Dixon of St. Paul, Mrs. Fred (Elva) Olesen of Elk River and Mrs. Victor (Norma) Jensen of Askov and by two sons, Ejvind of Osseo and Kenneth of Minneapolis. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Larson Funeral Home, Sandstone, was in charge of arrangements.
