She started her career as a school teacher in Colorado Springs, and was able to reach many children in other parts of the world too including the Japanese island of Okinawa, and Spain. She loved all sports, especially golf, and really enjoyed world travel.
She shared travel with her husband Paul, a professional pilot. Though they flew around the world on a corporate jet, her favorite travel was beside him in their private Bonanza airplane.
Survivors include her beloved husband Paul in Sun City, Georgetown, Texas; son and daughter-in-law Michael Paul and Maria Luisa and their two children Michael Paul II and Daniel Robert in Mexico City; daughter Lynda Lizabeth in Temple, Texas. Barbara Jean was preceded in death by her 23 year old son, Samuel Robert in 1983.
A remembrance is scheduled for October 29th. Barbara was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes at just 15 years of age, and she survived an almost unheard of 60 years with the fatal condition. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association , 1701 N. Beauregards Street, Alexandria, VA 22311 (1-800-342-2383).
