Barbara Jean Anderson Lasen passed away on October 12, 2011. Born on June 4, 1936 in Torrington, Wyoming, she grew up in the small prairie town of Henry, Nebraska where she was organist & pianist for the Henry United Methodist Church, and her hometown High School. An avid "animal person", she loved her horse Beauty, her prize winning 4H sheep, and her Black Angus calves. A cheerleader and homecoming queen, she later pursued higher education and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and Music at Denver University.

She started her career as a school teacher in Colorado Springs, and was able to reach many children in other parts of the world too including the Japanese island of Okinawa, and Spain. She loved all sports, especially golf, and really enjoyed world travel.

She shared travel with her husband Paul, a professional pilot. Though they flew around the world on a corporate jet, her favorite travel was beside him in their private Bonanza airplane.

Survivors include her beloved husband Paul in Sun City, Georgetown, Texas; son and daughter-in-law Michael Paul and Maria Luisa and their two children Michael Paul II and Daniel Robert in Mexico City; daughter Lynda Lizabeth in Temple, Texas. Barbara Jean was preceded in death by her 23 year old son, Samuel Robert in 1983.

A remembrance is scheduled for October 29th. Barbara was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes at just 15 years of age, and she survived an almost unheard of 60 years with the fatal condition. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the American Diabetes Association , 1701 N. Beauregards Street, Alexandria, VA 22311 (1-800-342-2383).
