According to Adda's daughter Corene, the first time Adda saw her to be husband to be, Fred, he worked for the railroad, and he was so dark, probably from working around the coal, that she thought he was a "colored" man. (As per an interview with Dale Alan Sourbeck, in Jul, 1985)
